July 22, 2021 FREEDOM TO LIVE

We all know the choices we make determines our outcome. We have seen where someone chooses to hang out with the wrong crowd thinking they will not be affected but are soon pulled into doing wrong. We have seen where some choose to eat or drink what they want and end up gaining weight or having health issues. We have seen some choose to do whatever feels good at the moment and, over time, they begin to have issues due to wrong choices.

Our choices determine our actions and our outcomes. God knows this. That is why He tells us, time and time again, in His word that we should obey His commands. He tells us this because He knows what is right for us to do and He already knows the outcome. He even gives us a glimpse of the outcome with His promises. He tells us to obey Him and we will experience real freedom. Let’s use our freedom to live for God, to remain in Him, and to be faithful to Him.

SCRIPTURE:
John 15:10 “When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.” (NLT)

ACTION STEPS:
1. Write ways you obey God.
2. List the freedoms He promises.
3. Know you have a choice in all things.
4. Seek God’s will in all decisions you make.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, we know we are to obey and live for only You. We are to remain in You. We are to obey You. We are to be faithful to You. Show us Your way so we live in the freedoms You promise to us. We pray You will help us resist temptation to follow the crowd or to take a wrong path. We pray Your Holy Spirit will guide us to make right choices according to Your word. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

REMEMBER:
John 14:24 “Anyone who doesn’t love me will not obey me. And remember, my words are not my own. What I am telling you is from the Father who sent me.” (NLT)

Psalm 119:30 “I have chosen to be faithful; I have determined to live by your regulations.” (NLT)

FOCUS:
Psalm 119:7 “As I learn your righteous regulations, I will thank you by living as I should!” (NLT)
