Dishwasher crapped out 2 weeks ago. So far one repair man refused to finish the job (because the problem wasn't the most common thing wrong and trying to actually fix it would take some thinking). The second repair man refused to wear a mask and left when my husband asked him to wear it. (Yes we told him about having immune compromised children and we have to protect them.) The third repair man tried to come but a huge car accident happened and blocked the road so he couldn't come. Lets just say, dishes are washed daily however the mountains of dishes, made by 6 children, are never ending.

We had 8 kids in our family (5 of us natural siblings 3 cousins) I whined "MOMMMmmmmmmmmmm (as a preteen can! LOL I know you know this!) Whyyyyy can't have a dishwasher?!!??"

Moms answer "I have 8 of them." I soon learned many lessons from washing the dishes (at first it was only 4 oldest ones, eventually as the others turned 8 they joined us). A) If the job is done right the first time, I didn't have to rewash them B) How to enjoy tedious work (I could play music very low that I enjoyed) C) Sometimes you HAVE to do things you do NOT like D) I hated my cousin Amy working with me (hehehehehe) and I was MUCH happier doing it ALL by myself!! E) If I was having a rough day I could ask Mom "can we talk" because the rule in the kitchen during the time it was being cleaned was "If you are in here, you are in here to WORK!! F) How to get along with my siblings when we were going thru a hard time.

As my brothers grew up and married, their wives one day when we were all together and one of their wives said "Mary, I want to THANK YOU because I do not ever have to do most of the housework, Rick does the same amount plus the outside yard work." The others quickly said the same thing.

Its to hard for Mom to get it all done. It just is. SURE WE WHINED, but if we did it to much, we couldn't go outside ,, for me, I couldn't read a book for whatever hours it was. I did this stuff with my GD also as she turned 9, she had to help out. Not a whole lot, but some. Like my Mom did with me, I let her have fun with it.

    Hope it gets fixed soon.

Oh you poor dear. I don't have a dishwasher but now that there are two of us it's not so bad. When there were 4 or 5 of us kind of got a little crazy. And when there are 8 when we are all together and I feel your pain.

It's gotten to the point where all appliances, large or small, seem to be disposable. No one wants to fix them or if they will, the cost is so high you may as well buy new. My dishwasher is not pumping, so we wash by hand for now (only 2 of us, so not an issue), our oven smells of gas (so the igniter is on the fritz) and the fridge is making some clunking noise when the compressor shuts off. So all in all, I may as well redo the kitchen (which requires some major decision making)
    Could be an expensive summer.

I hear ya! My dishwasher took a puke yesterday! I don't have 6 kids though. We are going this week to buy another one. I haven't done dishes for 10 yrs until last night. My least favorite chore 😫. Good luck!👍
