New "Blog" Site -- Making Progress

Voted Popular Blog Post: View All Popular Posts

Friday, June 11, 2021

So happy to be following blogs from those nimbler than me in making a transition to a new site!! Just do not want to lose touch with that kind of communication which has been so useful to so many of us in figuring out what we think when we see what we say!!

And . . . Yes, I do myself have something in mind. Hope over the weekend to be making that jump myself!!

In the meantime, although I have not been blogging myself (my dear son went to a LOT of trouble to make sure my Spark blogs were saved), I'm definitely here replying to messages and commenting on others' posts and blogs!!

Just when I thought I'd return to blogging here, I find out they are bailing on us. I set up shop over at blogspot. I'm following up with my old spark buddies to see where they are landing.

Here's the address if you are interested: https://akastrongdawg.blogspot.com/

THX for being my new eMail 'friend'. I KNOW it is a big change for everyone. Not sure WHY people are saving their blogs.... I haven't thought of doing that. emoticon Not sure how I would do it, anyway!

emoticon 6-11-21 Photo from my past (2017) promoting SP, at Santa run, I walked it 12 times! & will continue this year, too! Promoting a different organization. Hope you are all ok. I DO wish 'someone' would buy SP from Chris......

So you found a new platform. Could I be included on the list so that I still may follow your blogs? I definitely would still like to keep in touch. emoticon

It feels like kindergarten again. Bravely we go everywhere hold one another’s hands as we venture into the big world outside SP.

I’m confident we will find our way and form that big circle of love that is the heart of the Maintaining team. You are a fount of knowledge that can’t be replaced.

Energetically, I've not managed to follow the blogs of those that are up and running elsewhere ... yet ... but, I will.

The interactions via blogs and blog responses have been such an integral part of my process.

Would like to migrate to another blog platform myself and am hoping to do so before the lights go out and the door closes behind us as this incredible community of people goes dark on this platform.

I trust that our lights will continue to shine bright as we disperse. I am doing my best to maintain connections and not go into anticipatory stress about those lost connections that will undoubtedly happen. The future is yet to be. This is now.

I'm so SO glad to hear that you're moving to another blogging platform! I was already having serious withdrawal, but reading some of your old blogs has been helping, LOL. It's really interesting to clearly recognize just how much the collective 'Voices of Wisdom' here (the voices of all who have been significant to my journey... you Ellen, are a soloist!) have become part of my conscious thought process... the problem solvers, the cheer leaders, the soothers, the focused and forward-moving the catalysts... have all been chiming in, even though the originators of said voices have fallen silent. It's not unlike when someone dear to you dies... it's really then that you discover just what that person meant to you (which is really what makes grieving so terribly hard). The lovely thing about the SPARKling voices in my head is that they are are so wonderfully positive, helpful and ANCHORING. I truly hope that all of those struggling valiantly against the change allow themselves this gift sooner, than later. The chorus is fueling and informing my way forward and I am confident that when the training wheels come off my bike on August 17th, I will be able to ride like the wind, onward.

Fortunately, I have all my prep files so I'm not downloading from SP. Still feeling rather overwhelmed with trying to find a new site, closing down my part of SP and trying to establish a new routine. Having just received a new fitbit last month was timely as it's now my new taskmaster. I doubt I'll go back to the in-depth blogs. Just focus on the exercise, losing weight and maintaining my strength.

I do watch for you at Docs and will read your blogs when I figure how to maneuver through the site.

Glad you are going to find a way to continue blogging. Could you please let me know how your son managed to save all your blogs? I could see no easy way of doing it that didn't involve a lot of hours.
Sparkpeople said there was a way to save to PDF, but I saw no such link and imagine that was meant for the app only.

Thanks for the update. I love that your son is preserving your blogs. I'll be here until the bitter end, although I did join the Maintaining group at Google and I've seen some references to Fatsecret.com, which has a more familiar feel and might be an option for someone like me who has maintained a loss but still has a bunch o' fluff to release. Sigh. Spark and this community was one thing I knew I could count on, especially as it kept me connected over the past year. As those of us who remember Rod McKuen would say, "People change, time moves on...."

I'll stay on Spark as long as it's up, so I can catch the transitions! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Over on Blogger, I could have multiple blogs, for example... would I want to have one for the "daily life" stuff... the Carl stories... the cat stories... separate from the fitness/nutrition content, or do I want to leave it like my Spark blog, all "Hineingemisched" (mixed together).

Slowly working through mine, just reading them but making no effort to save any as I feel that I have moved on and like collecting "things" and being reluctant to clear the eventual clutter I feel the same about my musings over the years.

Love your son - I'm doing it myself and it's tedious. I can't believe I wrote so much and in fact, I'm dumping about half of it. I kept a blog on blogger from about 2002 to 2011 and t hen switched to their new platform and kept at it half a dozen years more. Alas - the old blog was lost in some transition along the way. Oh well. But I'm saving all TheBrains and some of the special ones that matter to me. I'll look forward to seeing where you land.
