Day 18: Facing Tough Life Stuff

Sunday, June 06, 2021

So my weight skyrocketed. I have been eating emotionally for a while now. I have been dealing with the decline of my grandpa for a while and he is dying now and they say he will be dead by the end of the weekend. I was very close with my grandpa so this has been tough for me. I've come to terms with it now and am ready to get back on the right track and get back to a better place mentally and emotionally. I know I made his last years happier and was a good friend to him so I can be happy with that. So since I have gained ten pounds I have quite a bit of work to do to relose the weight, but I am ready to do so. My health is quite a bit better since starting the inhaler almost a month ago and I have done quite a bit of work on my kitchen even though a lot of things kind of went to the wayside and piled up since my grandpa went to the hospital. I am trying to catch up on things now and get everything back in order. I ordered some new supplements to try to improve my performance (turmeric, oil of oregano, and ginko biloba) and hoping to get some bodybuilding supplements soon as I know I do better with the creatine, CLA, and fat burners, and am going to be getting some more protein drinks when I go to the store on Tuesday. I will also be stocking up on a lot of fresh produce when we go grocery shopping. I want to get a lot more fresh food in the house and stop eating white bread and go back to eating the flourless sugarless bread again. I have fallen into some bad eating habits and am working to correct those. We have been having big meals lately especially big leisurely breakfasts late in the mornings and sleeping in late so I've been missing workouts, too, and it's been very hot here so it's made me lazier.

Eating Healthy Food: I'm back to tracking food and planning meals. I'm cooking up a healthy meal to put into Tupperware tonight with shrimp and green beans and cutting back on cholesterol and saturated fat a lot. I actually have a fair amount of healthy food in the house so I don't have any excuses for not eating healthy.

Exercise: I've gotten back to exercising. I did some flexibility training tonight, just a gentle workout. It was a good way to ease back into exercise. I do have a lot of motivation for exercise right now and even though I'm still pretty sore, I'm in good enough shape right now that I can exercise without too much trouble and can lift weights as long as they are extremely light.

Meditation: Now is an extremely important time to be meditating for my mental health. So I'll be getting back into that.

Drinking Water: I'm drinking mostly water these days as it's so hot. Haven't been tracking it though so have to get back to doing that.

Non-Scale Victory: My biggest non-scale victory lately is resolving to get back on track. Fritzy reminded me this is my 100th attempt to get back on track, but at least I am still here and still trying.

Self-Esteem: My self esteem has been a little lower lately. Things have been kind of tough, but I am still working on it.

Sleep: Sleep has been kind of compromised lately. It has been really hot and I've been stressed, but I'm working on my sleep routine.

Rewarding Myself: I will be rewarding myself today with some self care and working more on my kitchen.

Things are ironing out and I am finding some peace. Keep Sparking! emoticon

I'm glad you have had a nice Grandpa. My brother died last week, as he was 68 and had been in the hospital in ICU 4 times in the last 8 months and in rehab and the nursing home and had not gotten where he could come home and with Covid he had been under lockdown so no visitors or seeing other patients, even in PT during rehab, all was isolated. He'd get better only to get pneumonia, etc.
His heart finally gave out. He had had acid reflux for yrs and it had scarred his esophagus shut and he went in for surgery and it failed, so it all went bad from there.
