Now, no offense intended but many of you know I am not much of an animal person.
I appreciate how much folks love their pets but the idea just never appealed to me.
My daughter has two cats which she adores...yup...they are cute.
Many many members of my extended family have various dogs, cats, horses, goats, etc.
Happy for them.
But my dear late son Patrick was like me in this regard...just nothing there for him and he never wanted to live with one, especially when they had their three kids (in five years starting just after he married my wonderful DIL Jean).
Jean had a black lab named Hudson when they met and she and her dog moved in.
Pat tolerated Hudson, who, sadly, passed away a few months after their wedding.
Whenever Jean talked about getting a puppy Pat put his foot down and said no.
Most of you know that little family lives in chaos...always have...with toys everywhere, books, clothes, shoes all over the house, even food dishes scattered about...so, really, who could blame him?
To add a puppy to that environment seems almost cruel and asking for trouble.
Well, Jean is now the head of the family and a young widow of six months.
Her house...her decisions, which we encourage and support.
And three of the happiest kids I have seen in a few years!
Their mom, too!
Which all makes me happy, too.
PS...they have gated off most of the main living area and swept away all the items that may cause Pixie to get in trouble.
