I've have been across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge but not the the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel - but have heard of it. Sounds like you made your trip interesting by avoiding I-95 which is never fun! 58 days ago
I don't like bridges at all and this one sounds like a lot to not like. LOL. I have used ferries but just short ones. As I have gotten older I don't trust things like planes, trains, boats, cars, bridges like I used to. 63 days ago
Thank you so much for your blog! I love travelling with you. I am familiar with St. Augustine, which I loved when we visited many years on our way to Orlando, and have been to Rehoboth Beach, also many years ago.
I've always wanted to do the Chesapeake Bay bridge/tunnel, but probably never will now, and the ferry sounds lovely. I was surprised, though, that on such a big ferry you were allowed to stay in your car. Two car ferries that I know about, one from Nova Scotia to Prince Edward Island and the other from Nova Scotia to Newfoundland make everyone go upstairs, to lounges, for the crossings.
Peter and I experienced the Chunnel, from England to France to return, by train, which was fun, but over way too quickly.
Did I hear you correctly? Never heard of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel? Well, now you have. I'd long known of it and, then, in 1997, had the occasion to take it when I drove up from Norfolk. It was quite impressive, but too bad that the tunnel portion offers no views!
