Week six, 5% Spring Challenge

Not sure what happened to week five...it got away from me...I’ll just leave it at that. This week we are tracking our freggies, and making social contact with someone. I’m not good w social contact...I avoid phone calls bc that was something I did during my work career. I was on the phone the full 8-10 hours every day...so now I just enjoy the peace and quiet. Last night one of my former co-workers called, so I can count that, I guess. It was good to catch up w her.

My weight has not budged much during this challenge. I know I won’t make my goal. I’ll be happy to see some downward movement, tho. I haven’t given up...I’m just not as dedicated as I was a year ago. I’m not tracking faithfully, and I’m eating foods that aren’t healthy. Still working out, so that’s good. But weight loss is accomplished by 80% diet and the rest of it working out...so essentially, I’m maintaining. And that’s fine, if I’m happy w my weight...which I’m not.

A few of my friends are in a program called Eager 2 Motivate (E2M). I heard about it a year ago and have watched them completely transform their physique. It’s a low carb diet that incorporates Intermittent Fasting, and circuit training and cardio for workouts. Very regimented, with one day off. You pay for eight weeks, then can continue w the program for free for life. I’m not a big proponent of low carb diets...it’s not sustainable. My friend told me that once you hit goal, you can incorporate complex carbs into your diet. She has lost 80 pounds in 14 months, and is so toned.

I think I’m going to try it. I need to challenge myself. I figure I can do low carbs for eight weeks and see how it goes. If nothing else, I’ll get exclusive workouts, nutrition advice, chef demonstrated meal plans and so on just from participating. I can modify the diet if the low carbs don’t work for me. I plan to finish out the Spring Challenge and will continue to track nutrition and activity on Spark like I have been. The more tools at my fingertips, the better.

    Keep us posted and nothing wrong with trying something new. Sometimes that is what we need; main thing i find is to keep it fun.

    I think it's a good idea for you to try something new if you can afford the program and are willing to go with a regimented routine. Regular exercise, as you're doing now, will always benefit you in the long run even if you're not dropping pounds. I hope your friends will be able to maintain their results. Good luck with whatever you decide to try. emoticon
