Chapter 38, Day 55

I like to cook and to try new recipes on occasion. And, I especially like cooking with fresh herbs, as I find they add interesting flavors to food. Yesterday, I had some leftover tarragon and added it to some steamed sugar snap peas that were finished with a splash of olive oil and some salt and freshly ground pepper. Simple recipe, and a real keeper.
Something new for me, I bought a boneless skinless turkey breast to dry roast. I was worried about it being dry because it had no skin. I decided to treat it like a chicken cutlet, and dipped it in egg and then bread crumb made out of stuffing mix crumbs mixed with some grated parmesan cheese in it, and then sprayed the whole thing with Pam and put it in the oven to bake at 325 degrees. It was surprisingly good and super moist, as the flavors released from the meat flavored the crumb topping. So easy, and very healthy.
Sometimes, I buy lots of ingredients, spend a couple of hours making something, and the food outcome underwhelms me for all the time and expense. It's been a good week in the kitchen lab, lol.
Not only do I enjoy a wide variety of foods, but I found that having interesting food to eat while I was trying to drop 25#, gave me something to look forward to at meal time and helped me to stay on Plan. It actually stopped my foraging for foods later from trying to satisfy my taste buds's demands. It's weird how little tricks like this can have big impact.
I like to read cookbooks, and especially prefer the ones with photos. I own more cookbooks than I will ever in my lifetime use, but yet it doesn't stop me. And I occasionally will check a cookbook out of the library in order to save some bookshelf space. LOL, I guess I could be doing worse things.
What can I say? I love to read about food and the science of food. I love to cook. And, I love to eat. Good thing I love fruits, vegetables and wholesome foods, too.
LOL, I wish I loved to exercise as much!
It's a great day for a great day!
