Remembering My Family's "Roots"

Watermellen’s blog, “Choose Your Own Nostalgia,” brought back some specific happy childhood memories related to healthy foods.
My family lived in Columbus, Ohio from the time I was 3 to 14 years old. Dad had all kinds of fruit trees - apples, peaches, and plums. To this day, when I eat a plum, I think of those days in Ohio.
In beds around the house perimeter, he grew strawberries and golden raspberries (which the birds left alone because they never turned red).
Then there was the vegetable garden out back. One thing that grew especially well in his garden was radishes. As plentiful as they were, we had radishes in every salad. Back then, they were of the little round red variety.
However, as we age, don’t we aspire to go BIGGER and BETTER?
Check out this radish from his 2016 garden at the lake house. We’ll never be hungry again!
