WOOHOO! I am making continuous and steady progress!
This week actually has been one of my most "off" weeks since December. It was lab week, so there was candy literally everywhere in the office AND I forgot to bring my lunch one day. So I definitely snack-snack'ed a bit more than usual this whole week - on CANDY of all things. Ugh. Lesson 1: I need an emergency snack box for my desk drawer.
Definitely upped the carb intake. Which actually was SUPER interesting. Because up until now I've been doing really well on a lower carb / higher protein (nothing too crazy out of whack) program, but the increased candy this week on multiple days (fortunately they were snack-sized M&M's and peanut butter cups - hard to resist!), was noticeable to me in how I was feeling health wise. Although I still stayed within my calorie range most days, by the end of the week my stomach felt a bit off, overall I felt more poofy and I had noticeable swelling in my feet and legs after sitting at my desk all day. Ugh. No thank you!
So the win on the scale was a bit unexpected this week (and I think mostly due to a great exercise the week before), but definitely reinforced that not only did I make progress this week, but it might have even been better without the candy overload. Either way I'm still having a WOOHOO moment.
Did not get much exercise in this week either. Ugh! Actually, I bought a replacement water backpack for hiking - my old one was about 12 yrs old and literally started to disintegrate last week. With the sudden increase in hiking that week, I was left with two sizeable blisters on my toes, so I've been taking it easy until those heal up. I should have done some weight training. Coming back to work after being on vacation for a week is always stressful though. Maybe had I made an effort to exercise more - it wouldn't have been as stressful! So I'm going to plan out my week in my planner which ought to help me follow through.
But I hit my low weight loss target goal for April now AND I'm 0.1 lb away from hitting 25 lb loss. It's funny with this 5% challenge that I'm doing, I weigh myself on Saturday mornings now too in addition to Sunday mornings. But something magical seems to happen on Saturdays, because I have been dropping 0.5-1 lb between my Saturday AM and Sunday AM weight checks. Weird, but I'll take it. So it's seeming like it might be a bit of a stretch for me to reach my mid-range weight loss goal for this month (and I'm not sure I'll be able to swing my 5% goal for the challenge), but so long as I'm making reasonable progress - I'm going to count that as a win. Slow and steady wins the race!
So I hit my 10% total body weight loss this week too! That's the point where "they" say that people will start to take notice of your weight loss. No one besides my mom has noticed and said anything at this point. And actually I don't really mind, because *I* can see the progress.
Accomplished more reading on real estate investment this last week. I accidentally happened upon a vacation rental investment opportunity that I'm seriously considering. I think it would be kindof fun to start a business (a vacation rental business of one unit - lol). In reading there are lots of ways to make this whole process less work - I already have a full time job and don't need another job added on top of that. Plus having to hire a management company costs money which doesn't help the overall "investment" part of it. So anyway, got really excited about that a few days ago and am now finally at the point where I am less hyped and more practical - so it's giving me some time to really evaluate the pros and cons of the opportunity.
Kitty is still hanging in there. Quite honestly I think he's doing pretty well. I'm bringing him back to the vet this week for another checkup.
Okay well that's my exciting life in a nutshell for this week.
I'm going to meet two friends of mine today for a late lunch (all three of us are in health care so have already had our vaccinations) on an outside patio. It will be the first time that I've been to a restaurant in well over a year. And we are going to a very small Peruvian restaurant that I really like, so I'm excited about that.
I feel like I spent almost all day yesterday on the phone talking to people or on the computer researching for this investment property. I think the rest of the day I'm going to try to avoid the computer and my phone!
Have a good week everyone.
