NOOM - My analysis after 3 months

Wednesday, April 14, 2021

I am almost 73 years old. I have been dieting since the 6th grade when the school nurse told me I was obese at 150 lbs.. I have tried Nutrisystem and lost 30 lbs. twice and gained it all back. I use Herbalife products for health and lost 76 lbs. on their soy protein shake program and gained it all back.
NOOM said I would lose the weight and KEEP IT OFF. Later, I realized they all say that, but it was what stuck in my mind, so I tried to join. I did not have a smart phone and their program is an APP. I continued to try and lose on my own. Finally I had to buy a smart phone because my carrier didn't support my phone type any longer.
This past January 2nd, I joined NOOM for a 2 week trial. We measure our weight and the calories of the food we eat every day. I feel these are vital requirements of the program. They provide lessons on the APP each day for us to learn how to adjust our choices to pick foods that are good for us and also fill us up. At the end of the 2 weeks, I committed to the 4 month program. It ended up costing around $200 for both segments.
I feel that commitment is the key. I have lost 22 lbs. in 3 months.
I was over 100 lbs. overweight, so this isn't about just losing a few pounds and keeping them off. This is about changing how I eat to continue to lose weight and feeling comfortable doing it. NOOM is giving me the tools to do that.

Thank you for sending me your blog. I joined Noom about 4 weeks ago. I have lost close to 6 pounds in that time. I am doing just about everything that is asked of me and it shows up on the scale!
I believe a person will reap the rewards of losing weight when the time is right, and the program that they pick fits.

I’m a weight roller coaster veteran too.

It’s so great to find something that works for you! A lot of this process seems to be about getting to know myself better; which habits and foods help me stay on track.

I’ve never tried NOOM, but I do the things you described (weighing my food, weighing myself daily, and eating things that help me feel full).

The other part of the equation that helps is to connect with others who are also walking the walk, and learn what kinds of things they do, to stay on track. Then I try some of those things and keep the ones I find helpful. Those same people are also great sounding boards because they know what it’s like to do this.

Hoping to hear more about how you’re doing and your thoughts about this process!

A friend has a friend (neither on Spark) that loves that program. If it works for you great. As we all know we can choose any program and it will work for awhile. But it is up to us to make changes for a lifetime we are comfortable with.
