Life Updates

Wednesday, March 31, 2021

It's been quite a while since I posted a blog, so I figured I should update everyone with what's been going on with me before the Spring 5% Challenge begins!

The past few months have been hectic to say the least. Here are the highlights:

1. I got into graduate school. After a whirlwind of interviews, I finally got the good news that I got accepted into my first choice grad program! I was hoping to start in the spring, but my acceptance came late, so now I'll be starting in the fall. It's a full time music education program that will also certify me to teach in New Jersey.

2. We lost one of our pets. Just before Christmas, we found one of our barn cats had been hit by a car on our street. Our family was devastated. I always worried about one of them being hit in our driveway by a delivery truck or something, but we live quite a bit off the road, so I never expected this. We had no idea that she was wandering that far from our house. Our driveway is more than 1/4 mile long and our house is surrounded by woods. I still feel so guilty and spent weeks crying over it. My pets are so important to me, and I feel like I should've done more to protect her. I'm trying to move past my guilt, but it's hard.

3. I'm trying to get pregnant. After a whole slew of appointments with my OBGYN, my celiac specialist, and my dentist, we've finally started! We literally JUST began trying, so I'm definitely not pregnant yet, but I'm excited!

4. I got vaccinated. I'm so glad that they finally made teachers a priority for vaccination. My school was in person starting in September, and was one of the only schools in New Jersey to do so. As soon as the vaccine became available to educators, the district set up a clinic for us. I'm still vigilant about social distancing because no one else in my house has managed to get vaccination appointments. Now if my husband and in laws would get vaccinated, I'd actually start to be comfortable venturing into the world. Hopefully this will happen soon.

Losing a precious pet is never ever easy. It shows s how much we love when we grieve so. Sadly our pets do not know how to stay away from anything on wheels and dangerous animals, humans. Its great that they come into our lives as they do and we get to love them up. I still think of my previous ones from time to time.

WOOHOO on grad school!! I agree with maybe the Fall will better, if it's not virtual. I help with an afterschool program, it's elementary school and LOLOLOLOL somedays like yesterday,,, it's how FAST can we hit the MUTE button because this 1 decides to take over the class with stuff that could wait and HAHAHAHAHA he's a very entertaining child, and I get a HUGE KICK out of him, while another one is so off the wall,,, LOL that was who's finger is the fastest, but he wasn't sure which of the 3 of was us was the most active, it was taking the 3 of us,,, LOLOLOL I WISH we were in person, I'd have the 2 of them competing against each other and encouraging each other with push ups etc, to help expel the energy. Now college kids aren't going to as elementary kids, but the distractions are soooooo ever there too!! You'll get so much more out of it if it's in person, which it may not be. We have to wait to find out.

Awww hey CONGRATS on trying for a little one. They are so cute, TONS of work, but yet a work that's so worth the while.

YEAH GOOOOO DAWGGIES!!! You have improved so much!! LOOKING forward to this challenge and we are the ONLY Team to fill right up!! YEAH YEAH YEAH!! The other teams will be, but it shows how VERY STRONG WE ARE!!

I DID invite SAL_SLIM to the challenge since I happen to see their request.

ahhh I understand...but we cannot stand over them 24/7...I have an older cat..14 ..she has always been an inside/outside cat..but lately we have had a huge owl around. So the cat is now an inside only cat!! I have been told about it several times by her, she is not happy..but she had gotten so bad about staying out till wee hours of the AM. Nope..I will do what I can to protect my pets..but we can't be there every minute!
Congrats on Graduate school...take care of you ...that is a stressful time with lots of hard work ahead..You can do it..just stay focused.
    Glad you got your vaccine..

Wow! Lots of exciting news! Honestly, it might be for the best you had to postpone graduate school a term because let me tell you, it is so much better when it isn't all virtual!!

emoticon Hugs! I also lost a pet to a car accident so I know how it feels. We cherish our pets as family members and it is hard to lose them this way. It happened in front of me so I was traumatized. Fortunately, I was able to hug and forgive the driver months later when he randomly was assigned to do appliance repair in my house. He was teary eyed and recognized me and my other dog right away. It was not his fault but he was carrying a lot of guilt so it was so nice to have closure. I hope you can find closure too and know that you grieve for your pet because you have such a loving heart!

Good luck with your endeavors. I remember doing both grad school and pregnancy but not at the same time. Remember to keep taking care of yourself too! Yea for vaccines, I'm fully vaccinated!
