One step at a time

I have had the final pre-surgery procedure done and have been given the green light from the bariatrician. Just waiting for the surgeon's office to call with the date. I have gotten my blood pressure under better control, and my vitamin B12 shot through the roof so I think they will be taking me off that one. Vitamin D is finally in a good zone after years of being far too low. Iron is great too, which is an accomplishment for me.
I am taking in approximately 94 grams of protein every day. Talk about an accomplishment! I could barely make it to 30 before! Protein20 is my savior! Haven't had much of an appetite of late. I have been continuing to reduce the processed starches, and am now going to be adding more berries to the mix.
Exercise continues to be a problem for me. My knees have been in so much pain I can barely walk the past month or so. I have been doing upper body exercises to compensate, but I want to be actually moving! The weather is finally nice enough to go outside for a walk, but my knees won't let me get past the driveway. When the knees start to hurt, I develop a waddling gait which causes sciatic discomfort. I don't want to deal with this anymore!
I am grateful that my bariatric team recognizes the struggles I am having, and decided to not have me do a 30lb weight loss before surgery would be considered. They figure if I quit smoking after 41 years I must be pretty committed to this process! Plus all the other changes I have made, along with my active involvement (I am constantly asking them what's next) doesn't hurt.
I am doing well in my college coursework, having achieved an A in my introduction to scripting class, even if I can't stand programming! There is no point in not putting in the effort, especially if I am paying for it!
Off to do more homework. It never ends....well, at least it won't for 6 more weeks then I get a week off from school!
