Thought and Prayer for Friday, March 5, 2021

Friday, March 05, 2021

We all know anxiety and worry are not good for us. Yet, we continue to do it. We lay awake at night wondering how we are going to get through an issue in our lives. We allow our worry to consume and distract us so we can’t effectively get things done. We continue to build these worries up in our minds until we are experiencing extreme turmoil that effects our health and our relationships with others.

But there is hope! God has a rescue plan for us. He wants to rescue us from turmoil and give us peace. He knows we overthink things and allow worry to consume us so He has given us direction on what to do when anxiety and worry creep in. He tells us not to worry about anything but to pray. He tells us not to worry about the things of the world but to focus on Him. Praying and keeping our eyes on the eternal rather than the external or internal is part of God’s plan to rescue us from worry.

Philippians 4:6-7 “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” (NLT)

1 Peter 5:7 “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” (NLT)

1. Write what you worry about.
2. List what Scripture says about worry.
3. Know God wants to rescue you from being anxious.
4. Trust in God and let Him give you peace.

Dear Lord, we thank You for Your word which reminds us not to worry or be anxious about anything. We know You promise to rescue us from the overwhelming thoughts we have about our problems which leads us to worry and to doubt. Help us remember You are with us and in us and for us. Remind us You have great plans for us and worry is not in Your plans at all. We want to give You all our worries and our burdens so we can experience true peace. Thank You, Lord. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” (NLT)

Proverbs 15:16 “Better to have little, with fear for the Lord, than to have great treasure and inner turmoil.” (NLT)

Isaiah 35:4 “Say to those with fearful hearts, ‘Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you.’” (NLT)

Hebrews 13:6 “So we can confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?’” (ESV)

Luke 1:74-75 “We have been rescued from our enemies so we can serve God without fear, in holiness and righteousness for as long as we live.” (NLT)

Psalm 75:3 “When the earth quakes and its people live in turmoil, I am the one who keeps its foundations firm.” (NLT)
