March 3, 2021 TRUTH AND LIES
There is so much information in our world today. The best way to avoid being conned by someone is to hide under a rock forever. However, that is not really possible so we have to learn to discern the truth among the many lies and make right decisions. And if we get really good at determining what is true and what is not, there are still others who are deceived daily. We can help them but only if they will listen.
God wants us to be sure we are not falling for the lies and tricks in the world. He knows there are people who teach false things to get what they want. That is one reason we have His word. We can know the truth from His word and use it to determine who is really telling us the truth or who is speaking only for personal gain. When we know God’s truths in our hearts, He can rescue us from the wrong in this world.
Psalm 144:11 “Save me! Rescue me from the power of my enemies. Their mouths are full of lies; they swear to tell the truth, but they lie instead.” (NLT)
1. Write how you discern the truth from lies.
2. List what God’s word says about those who deceive.
3. Know God wants you to be prepared and study His word.
4. Remember God will rescue you from the power of those who want to deceive.
Dear Lord, we pray You will help us to know the truth. There are so many who lie and cheat to get what they want. There are so many who will do anything for personal gain. We pray You will show us the truth in Your word so we can be ready for those who speak against You. Help us to share with others the importance of Your truths and how Your word can rescue them. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
