Thought and Prayer for Tuesday, March 2, 2021

Tuesday, March 02, 2021

As parents, we want to protect our children. When they get into trouble, our instinct to rescue them kicks in. Sometimes we run to help them too quickly without allowing them learn a lesson about life. Other times, we don’t rescue them quick enough and the consequences are great. When we teach our children, ahead of time, about the aftereffects of bad decisions, we could alleviate some future trouble.

God wants us to stay away from sin. However, we’re human. We give into temptation on a regular basis. God’s word teaches us how to respond to temptation. Reading and obeying God’s word will help us to resist the devil when he tempts us. God wants to rescue us from temptations and the evil one but we have to make the choice to follow Him and not the world. Praying daily for God’s help and memorizing His word is key to help us resist and be rescued by God’s grace and mercy.

Matthew 6:13 “And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.” (NLT)

1. Write down how this world tempts you.
2. List ways you have gone down the wrong path.
3. Know God wants to protect you from giving in to temptation.
4. Remember He promises to rescue you and deliver you from evil.

Dear Lord, we know the only way to resist evil is to get into Your word. Your word can protect us and rescue us from any wrong in this world. We pray for protection from evil and trust in You to rescue us and direct us back to You when we are tempted. We know there are those in this world with wrong intentions. Show us Your way, we pray. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

2 Timothy 4:18 “Yes, and the Lord will deliver me from every evil attack and will bring me safely into his heavenly Kingdom. All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.” (NLT)

Galatians 1:4 “Jesus gave his life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live.” (NLT)

2 Thessalonians 3:3 “But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.” (NLT)

2 Peter 2:9 “So you see, the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials, even while keeping the wicked under punishment until the day of final judgment.” (NLT)
