Food sure is an attraction

Thursday, February 25, 2021

. Our tiny little yard is becoming a life source as everything is drawn to food. I am trying hard to fight depression by blogging to you and keeping my feelings under control to not react but take deep breaths, and reflect back to Leo the happy bird then write the next chapter. Yesterday because Leo was such a wonderful bird of talking out his feelings and not breaking anything Leo got to have one treat. My daughter said, mother, I haven’t broke anything and I talk about my feelings so can I have a treat? I then reinforced her good behavior and said how proud of her I am and 10 whole days without breaking something what would you want? She chose a McDonald’s shamrock shake and I got my large ice tea. Today it’s about how proud Leo feels when he does not break his nice things and gets to have special treats, and if he keeps not breaking things maybe he can get a special treat again. How happy that makes Leo feel.

I heard a song: "It's the end of the world as we know it," this morning. It re-ran in my mind all day. You see, my BFF for 47 years was recently admitted to Rehab for dementia. It may be a reversible dementia if it was caused by a physical condition that has caused a chemical imbalance. I knew something was going on with her but couldn't quite put a finger on it. (sigh) I am fighting depression for her and with her. All her family & hubby have passed on, no children. I am trying to support her in ways that I know. The Rehab she is in is in lockdown due to Covid, so I can't visit her and cheer her up. However, I could go to her apt and get things I knew would cheer her up (like her Bible, reading glasses and photo of her late hubby) and deliver them to the Rehab's door. Unfortunately, it's a two and half hour drive one way. I also found a temp place for her two dogs to stay while she stays at Rehab for unknown time. I hate seeing this happen to her. Different battles but same hope that we can and will make a difference.

Are you familiar with the starfish thrown back in the sea story? emoticon

I know about fighting depression, especially in tough times. So happy about this progress and prayers that it continues.
