Food for fuel not for escape

I love food. Nice well prepared fresh food.
I like to eat food. I mean, I was married to a chef and prior to that I cooked pretty well myself and still do. I just cook cleaner and leaner and watch portions.
Overeating and fat isn’t my friend. So I had to learn how to cook delicious foods lower calorie and fat and not eat so much.
And it’s worked for the past few years.
I’ve gained a few back because of the bit of apathy with this pandemic. It sucks being on high alert. I slacked off a bit. Drinking wine in the evenings and then getting more indulgent with my late night snacking.
I start the day the same as always: coffee, smoothie, a tiny lunch and then a sensible supper.
For a while I was doing more cooking when my daughter was home all the time and baking sourdough and learning new baking techniques etc and then it just let me relax a bit more and I was eating foods that should be a once in a blue moon treat. Like hardly ever.
Food is fuel. And can be tasty. Too much isn’t good. The 4 pounds was a wake up call that it could be 40. So I’m back being hyper vigilant to remember my principles and why I need to not have extra weight on my body.
And I’m down a pound. 3 more to go. Maybe I’ll aim to make it 8 total.
