Barbara Robinson was strolling on Yampa Street next to the river when she paused to catch what a beautiful day it was!
The Yampa River runs through town, and our Core Trail runs alongside. It provides a peaceful place to stroll in nature while still in town:
I was on a Zoom meeting last night when our pastor shared with the group that he was on the United flight out of Denver that had engine trouble last Saturday, raining debris on the neighborhoods below them as they returned to the airport. Afterward I went out to look at the interviews he'd done, and realized some of them were while they were on the tarmac after landing. Troy was on the plane with his wife and two kids, as well as his parents. They were off to Hawaii to celebrate his parents' 50th anniversary, and were seated over the wing that had engine problems. Afterward his parents and his high schooler were ready to get on another plane to continue the trip (his high schooler noting that their odds were VERY good now). His 4th grader, who is usually pretty bold, was more hesistant, and as the time approached to get on a plane again became even more anxious. Troy's wife and the two kids ended up staying home, and Troy went on to Hawaii with his parents and brother. He's hopeful that sometime in the next couple months they can plan a quick trip involving a flight so his 4th grader can overcome the fear of getting on a plane again. Experiences like that certainly put things in perspective!
