Chapter 37, Day 83

Tuesday, February 23, 2021

Busy morning. Walked 60 minutes. Did classical stretching. After shoveling snow for 60 minutes yesterday and chopping and hauling heavy wet snow & ice for another 77 minutes that afternoon, the scale moved another 1.5 pounds off my frame. Just like that. Overnight. Last week, the scale should have shown more weight loss, maybe things are just moving again. I don't think it's water weight, I ate 300 more calories yesterday and drank about 10 cups of water to offset the physical demands I placed on my body. This weight loss thing can be so confounding sometimes.....

My arms are sore so I will move ST to Wednesday instead, feeling they need a day of recovery time.

MIL, now 98, has declined; she will be moved to a skilled care nursing facility. Mentally, she is not too aware and we think she will make the transition okay; it is sad for our family.

Grand should arrive any time. Got to run. Have an awesome day. emoticon

Definitely give those muscles a rest when they have worked hard clearing snow and ice! When you exercise more and with greater intensity, you should be consuming more calories. Eating less can have the opposite effect if your body thinks you're starving it. It is so hard to see the decline in our parents/in/laws. We are dealing with a great deal of decline in my 99 year old mother too but fortunately she's still able to be in her home because my sister and BIL are there in the home with her and can see to her needs as well as keep an eye on her.

What a workout! You def need a day between ST to recover.
The best thing you can do re: weight is to stop trying to figure it out. You're doing all the right things all of the time. Now it's time to believe in those right things.
