It's Finally Happened....

Sunday, February 21, 2021

I am tipping my hat to all those ladies out there that gave me suggestions how to prepare for a winter electrical outage and no water when the next time happens. And believe me, there will be a next time. I am a firm believer in global warming; how could you not? I always have been and always will. It is so obvious we are enduring harsh and very strange weather patterns. Even deadly. SO there definitely will be a next time and I will be prepared then.

When I lived in California, I always had a backpack filled with survival gear for earthquakes. Similar things what you would have here in Austin. Always be prepared for the "big one" to come as we Californians would always be worried about. But now, knowing that the "big one" won't hit here, I am somewhat relieved. But the winters...that is a whole different ballgame. I know last week was a freaky thing to happen, the arctic vortex et al. But it could happen again and next time yours truly will be ready.

My water came back very early this morning after five days of none. I was so thrilled I spent the whole a.m. cleaning my home inside and out. I even sage smugged it to get all the bad jujus out of my home and make it a very happy place now that we are in the 70's outside! It was freezing a couple of days ago and now it is summer weather....Go figure! It's global warming ladies! ;o)

Tonight my daughter is having me over and we are having a "gratitude dinner." I know, it sounds so corny but when you have experienced what we, the unexperienced group all last week, we have to celebrate the wonderful electricity and water that has finally come back to us! Heck, it is a good way to start the week on a good note, right?

So fortunate to have a happy ending with NO frozen pipes...wonderful!! So glad that you and your daughter’s family navigated thru the extreme weather event and are able to celebrate with gratitude!
Having been thru hurricanes and tropical storms, I also know first hand how it is to live without running water and electricity....definitely an experience!

Thank the good Lord that you have your water back! I agree being prepared is the way to go. I bet all your plants were quite thirsty. I hope you were able to save some of them. I think doing the sage ritual is a good thing. I have a cousin who married a full blooded Cherokee and she firmly believes that using sage works and I agree with her.

Your "gratitude dinner" is a wonderful thing to do. Giving out those vibes in the universe can only bring you positive things back to you.

Here in Michigan we are going to warm up a bit, no where near 70 but we might and I say might reach 40 by Tuesday and stay in the upper 30's all week long. I'm sure it will melt all of this snow by then. It will be a welcome relief. I keep thinking Spring is only 27 days away and that's less than a month. We can do this!

Take care and truly enjoy your family tonight. What's on the menu for tonight?

emoticon Glad the water is back on. Do you to boil it for a few days? I have never felt a earthquake and I don't really want to know what it feels like to have the earth moving under me. I will take our winters. I guess survival would be pretty close for either. Glad you are okay.

It's amazing how little you can appreciate some things till you don't have them! Our hot water heater went on the blink this week so we had no hot water for a day and a half. I was soooo happy to take a long hot shower when we got it fixed!

I love the idea of a "gratitude" dinner and we all have things to be grateful for. I'm so happy to hear that you have water now and yes, I am absolutely certain that you will be ready if/when another one of these events comes your way. I am grateful that we are now in the double digits ABOVE 0 and that Daisy and I have walked two days in a row now. Oh, she was so happy yesterday when she realized I was getting ready for a walk and over the moon happy when we finally got to the path of many smells! Enjoy your running water today!
