Middle TN is anticipating significant snow starting tonight. For our region, that can be 3 - 5 ". many times we do not end up getting snow, but I am sure it will be cold and messy.
My class and I wrapped up our first 3 weeks of the semester with their first test this week. They take their class through Zoom with me. Whew, testing has really changed for many of these college students this past 12 months.
I will be calling into a GoTo Meeting in about an hour. My dad (retired clergy, practicing marriage and family therapist) facilitated his Sunday school class' move to the online platform. Practically speaking, most members who join virtually each week are on their phones. So, funnily, it ends up being dad and I with our webcams on...me staring at pop's forehead. (grins)
In two hours, I will switch over to Facebook and watch Tommy (my spouse) lead worship. Our church has been live streaming services since the beginning of the pandemic. Sadly, many of those weeks the church has had to be closed to everyone expect those in charge of worship. We are all grateful we have the equipment to stream services.
I have test papers to grade after lunch. Papers? one might ask? Well, my students worked 2/3 of their test problems on paper and then "captured" or scanned their work. They upload PDF copies of their test papers, so I will be pulling those up and grading.
For grade breaks I will practice harp. I am finding that I can play smoothly for longer intervals...which is a goal.
Reflecting on this morning and upcoming mornings... I get up later than my spouse these days (maybe for the last 2 years?). he and I tend to have tv on most of the day, even if we are not in the room with the tv. Sunday mornings, Tommy leaves the house earlier than during the week. Actually, very soon after I got up he was out the doors. And I thought to myself... I need to turn off the tv and have the house quiet.
I don't always think about my soundscape.
My thought...I need to commit to turning off the tv earlier and earlier on weekdays. I also need to watch out for what might be becoming a bit of a compulsion. I seem to walk around the house, "picking up and straightening", for much of the first bit of the morning. Having a chair yoga commitment helps break me out of that drive to straighten (and now that school has started back, I have a 9 am commitment), but I find myself filling a need for productivity (or something) and doing chores that don't lead to some kind of final product.
I will have to reflect more on the above.
For now...over to my SP task list for points-earning and then off to the harp for AM tuning.
