....the tough get determined!
Since my last blog post, it's been a full spectrum of emotional stress. After my aunt was buried in January, my brother, sister and 8 yr old niece were all diagnosed with Covid. The to add insult to injury, my daughter's friend who stays with us on nights she has to work (we live closer to her job than she currently does) was diagnosed with Covid. Needless to say, everyone got tested!! Thankfully no one else in my house contracted it, and my siblings and niece recovered quite quickly (they had mild cases). My dad and step-mom were able to get their shots, so that's a worry off my mind to be sure.
Despite all of that, I STILL have not had a cigarette. I am 35 days smoke free! Did I want one? Oh heck yes! Especially with all that worry going on, but I did not cave. I am determined that in order to get this surgery I must remain smoke free and that's what I am doing. I did get a CO2 monitor (for free from my insurance) and I have tested in the green zone (which is where a non-smoker is) every single day. The downside is that I have gained a little weight. Apparently all the walking up and down the stairs I was doing to go have that cigarette was helping me, and now I don't do it more than once or twice a day for food or coffee. Time to get creative in getting moving!
College coursework is coming along. I seem to be understanding it a bit more. I changed my location from the living room to my bedroom where I can get some quiet to concentrate. It's working! 2 more weeks until the end of the course.
All in all, everyone is on the mend, improvements are being made and life is good!
