Last time I sent an update was 09/2019! It's been "a bit"
2019 started off ok, but then I had two surgeries in the summer and after that, I went thru a period of depression... and then 2020 happened. oh boy!
I was able to start working from home in March pretty seamlessly. I already teleworked 50% of the time, so.. not a big deal. In fact, I got into a pretty good routine with my running. I started going for a 1 mile walk in the morning and then at lunch did a 20 min run. Just doing that, really helped my mental state.
July was a mess, the most 2020 month of the year for me personally. My mom was in the hospital ventilated for about 2 weeks. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Because of COVID I wasn't allowed to go see her and I just had to rely on the nurses & doctors to call and give me updates. I'm blessed that I have close family and they got me thru it. I don't know what I would have done without them.
ALSO in July, my "quarantine" friend (we only saw each other and otherwise social distanced) invited me to start going to Camp Gladiator with her. It's an outdoor "boot camp" style work out. I started doing that about three times a week. It was hard, but that was great, because for that hour I only thought about where I was in that moment and was able to take my mind off what was happening with my mom.
My mom was able to come home after about 3 weeks & celebrate her bday in August, Praise Jesus!
I continued doing Camp Gladiator and stayed consistent with my running. Unfortunately I didn't work hard on eating well. I got stronger and lost some inches, but didn't lose weight. I just lost and gained the same 3 lbs all year.
I ran a half marathon in December. I had signed up for the race in late 2019, but of course it was cancelled. I still trained for it (they cancelled it pretty late/close to the race date) and since I HAD done all the training, I ran it solo. I felt pretty accomplished running 13 miles by myself with no one cheering me on. haha
Christmas was good and I was able to spend it with close family.
I still need to get back on the wagon and eat healthier. I had some blood work done in September and my cholesterol was pretty high, so I'd really like to try to lower that without drugs if possible. Although it does run high in my family, so we shall see.
