Day 27: Ups and Downs

Days of working out: 28!
Days without alcohol: 5

So Dry January took a break one afternoon recently for a glass of wine with a friend. Then right back on board. Just as I've been trying to think mindfully about food, thinking mindfully about alcohol has helped me to say no this month on many days when in the past I think I would have just had a glass of wine as a given or as a reward or as a comfort. My hope is that going forward I can maintain this mindfulness and limit myself to a drink a week.

Alcohol and sugary foods have a similar effect on me. One leads to a real desire for more. I think I just do better when I abstain.

On the exercise front - emoticon . I'm really pleased with what I have done thus far this year. There have been some days when I only did 20 minutes or when I just walked. There have been days when I worked out when I really really did not want to. And there have been days when I know I could see improvement. I'm still enjoying the freedom of non-regimented workouts.

Most recently I have worked out every day of my period. This has always been hard for me, and sometimes I'd use my period as an excuse to not work out. I'm really proud of myself for doing something rather than nothing during these last several days. Not always easy, but always rewarding.
