Improvements to the diet

Friday, January 22, 2021

I guess it's better late than never. I wish I had learned earlier in life, ways of increasing endorphins in the body instead of using food. That sports, activity, and laughter was a better tool to battle loneliness and sadness. I wish I had learned that food isn't just fuel to keep the human body alive but certain foods actually helped battle heart disease and causes of stroke. That there are foods that actually battle autoimmune disease in the body. That there was such a thing as certain foods causing inflammation in the body.

Lately, I have been making more improvements to my diet. I've been researching snacks that are around two hundred calories that don't rapidly increase my blood sugar and actually battle adema in my body. Learning how to eat and cook sodium-free has really been difficult for me. The grocery store either has low sodium products or a person has to make them from scratch. Not an easy task to do when Hubby doesn't need to be on a diet.

I'm the first to get Diabetes in the family. Hubby and I both have history of stroke in the family. I have history of heart disease. So I'm really looking for foods that increase circulation and don't add to the clogging of veins.

I have made some improvements. I now know that I will not eat cheese and processed lunch meat ever again. My body just can not handle the salt and sugar that the companies but into these products.

I guess they don't call it a weight loss journey for nothing. At least I am making some improvements to my life long diet. Hopefully, I can find alternatives that don't have hidden salt and sugar in them.
