Tuesday was a Monday wannabe

I was looking at the retirement board's rules for retirement and discovered that it is mandated that we start collecting our retirement before I turn 72 years and 6 months. I was hoping to get a few more years because I love my students and really feel like I am making a difference in their lives. If I submit my retirement letter by February 10th, I get a $500 bonus. If I start next year, I would have to retire midyear and abandon my kids to a sub and would not get the bonus. The difference in what I would get in retirement by waiting isn't very much and I was already considering retirement but very conflicted about it. I also don't want to make the decision while in mourning and stressed out, but I guess that it is pretty much a done deal now with this news.

I am tired and journaling about the process of making this journey into the unknown.
