As I sit here sipping 'spa water' after having finished my chamomile tea (lightly sweetened with honey) I wonder why people put all kinds of money into going to expensive spas. Oh, I guess I can imagine, if you don't have a day where you can schedule a slow down where someone else watches the kids or you can't be alone, it makes sense, but if you are able to have just a few hours or even an hour to yourself at home, you could get a great 'spa' experience at home for a fraction of the cost, like I'm doing today.
I won't go into the what you can do's and all that, though I really thought about it, LOL. I'm no guru on self care, by any means, I've just been reading a lot and and am diving in instead of just dipping my toe in the water. Today I'm doing an almost full out treatment! I'm so excited! I've got my hair mask in, because it should be in the longest, timer set for when I should start my other self care regimen. I'm going to be doing a face mask, upper body mask, foot soak, scrub and deep conditioning oil treatment. As well as a few other things.
One of the things I did want to share was the recipe for the 'spa water' I simply love it. If you don't like the idea of infused waters, I didn't, I'd say give this one a try. A full pitcher of water, distilled is preferred, but I used filtered. 2 lemons, sliced thin, and 1/2 a large cucumber, sliced thin, place in pitcher of water. If you want the cucumber flavor to shine more than the lemon, I'd say just do one lemon. Then wash and add 10 mint leaves, crushed or I just ripped them into pieces and tossed them in. Adds a very mild flavor. I simply love this, and may do this when I'm having a difficult time getting my water in. Let sit in the fridge overnight and it is ready to drink the next day! Don't have all night? I tried drinking it after about 4 hours (could not sleep) and it was yummy, or I think you could try crushing the ingredients in the water and that would speed up the process as well. Would need to strain the water probably, though. The recipe calls for a knuckle of ginger sliced thin but I did not have that on hand, so don't know what that would taste like.
But I'm loving finding all kinds of DIY's of natural ingredients to do self care with! I've made a few over the past week that I had the ingredients for, and I know that natural means waiting longer for the results, so I'm looking forward to a few weeks from now seeing what the results are! If you read yesterday's blog, you know I've got a few days to just do self care and try to relax, so this is what I came up with to do! This and I ordered a paint by number dragon, because it was cute, and self care, even spa days, only takes so long. To keep me from climbing up the wall from boredom, my paint by number should get here today or tomorrow, lol.
I hope you are doing well, and find some time to squeeze some self care into your day! Remember self care doesn't have to be extravagant like they portray on social media, it can be just making sure you take a shower and brush your teeth. Take care of you, because you are the only you we have.
