F is for Follow-up
Wednesday, January 06, 2021
I had my follow-up appointment with the surgeon today at the VA and I have had such low energy for a week now and I found out it is because my body is still healing and when I got on my Gazelle, I jumped the gun. I was feeling better at the time but it was not a good move to make, I found out today.
I also found out that they only had to break one rib but the surgeon said that our ribs are a very tender part of our body and even though I don't have the intense pain that I had before, I still have pain and he told me that my body will let me know what I am able to do and he's right.
My body was on hyper-alert for so long after the surgery with the intense pain that I was going through that it is now crashing and burning. That's how the surgeon explained it to me, so I will choose to be more careful and not push myself when I feel like I am able to do something. I will certainly NOT make that mistake again.
When the surgeon touched me to examine the area, I want to knock him out because it was that tender and it HURT!!! I thought I was doing better than I am, but I will take that step backward so my body is able to heal properly.
Thank You, God, that cancer did not return and it's only one broken rib!!!!
