January 1, 2021- Goodbye 2020!

Friday, January 01, 2021

Did you know, we are never done with 2020? Those numbers, that phrase will forever be upon our lips, our minds and history believe it or not. The blog isn't going to get philosophical, but honestly, we aren't done with 2020 for sometime.

On a more reflective note, yesterday I completed a day 31 workout streak ! Yes, yes. I can't quite remember why I began on December 1st but I am sure it had something to do with running. Funny thing is, I only ran a little and when I did, my runs were never much longer than 30 minutes. The runs reinforced how out of shape my conditioning had gotten. When I basically stop running in March my Vo2 Max was basically 42. This generally means my body was using oxygen pretty darn efficiently and that allowed my muscles, heart, blood vessels to provide me with what I was asking from them without stressing my body too much. In November when I finally took to the pavement again, a simple 30 minute run had me at 35 Vo2 Max. My heart rate was HIGH, my limbs got tired much sooner, my lungs...were weak if I had an incline. I was (and still am out of shape). My Vo2 Max did increase to 36 and my overall speed even with walk breaks to try and keep my heart rate around 155, increased. Yay me.
So, am I done with my streak...ugh, I am trying to work enough energy this morning just to get 20 minutes in but it hasn't happened yet. Will I take a break day or something...I know it is healthy to...these are just some questions I can't answer yet. What I do need to work on though, is my environment, it still isn't set up for success yet, even after all of these years, maybe this year will be the year? I can hope...
Stay safe and make good choices in 2021 and hopefully we can keep encouraging eachother.
