The Migraine Saga Continues
Thursday, December 03, 2020
My migraine life is a continuing saga. My body developed antibodies against the Botox making it ineffective for preventing my migraines after 6 months. The doctor at UCLA Migraine Center injected a different toxin which did not work. We tried some very expensive new meds that were also ineffective. The latest treatment was nerve blocks at the base of my skull. These have lowered the intensity of the migraines so Imitrex does a good job blocking the headache and accompanying nausea. I am now able to get in some exercise but have to take it slowly adding more minutes gradually. Guess I really got out of shape during fall when the migraines were so bad.
I have been self isolating during the pandemic. My husband and I spent Thanksgiving quietly at home. Some of the family are not taking the precautions recommended by CDC so it did not seem safe to have a family dinner. It is looking like Christmas will be more of the same. I will miss opening presents with my little granddaughters. They make Christmas fun. I will also miss spending time with my other family members.
I hope my friends here at SparkPeople will be safe this holiday season. Happy holidays.
