Advent means "to come" . Counting down to Four Sundays before Christmas
The first week is this coming Sunday, November 29th. We light the advent candle of Hope.
Also known as the “prophecy candle,” the candle of hope for Advent assures us we can have hope that God will fulfill the prophecies declared in the Old Testament about Jesus. Hope doesn’t disappoint us
(Romans 5:5) Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
My Pastor just spoke about trust and how important it is to trust God. God does not like it when we fear Him because that means we do not trust Him. He gives us promises and He does not fail in fulfilling them. I have a tendency to worry. I want to control everything really. I know this about myself, but only realize it "after the fact" of whatever the situation is.
On Wednesday, I am going to have surgery and I hope someone keeps me in their prayers. It is an easy surgery but recovery time is concerning me.
I love my church and although it is a new church for my family (and we don't know a lot of people there), they seem so kind. It is where everything make sense to me. I hope to get to know them better soon. My husband plays bass with the band and my son is also volunteering as one of the sound and video techs. They have made us feel very welcomed.
I hope that we all see God's goodness and kindness this coming week. Have a hopeful week of joy and love with your family during Thanksgiving.
