Baby steps

This is a hard time for all of us. It's been rather rough within our family too. Several health issues, thankfully not covid-19, lots of stress, exhaustion.
I have had a hard time doing right by me. I have not been able to properly prioritize my time. Unfortunately, my major coping mechanism has been to eat. Secondarily it's been Twitter and coloring and audiobooks.
So this week's baby step is to finally have a conversation with my supportive husband and begin to schedule walks outside. I feel like it is wretched to have to say that I have still not completed my rehab from back surgery in january, and I'm still not able to properly walk. The only one I have to blame for that situation is me, and the choices I have made. Sometimes I have opted to take care of others as their need has felt greater. I also recognize that if I can't walk, it enables me to be safer and not have to go outside in this risky covid environment.
we will take another walk this afternoon, and I'm getting a little better at it again. And just because I will be able to be healthy and active and exercise again, does not mean I am required to set foot in unsafe environments.
Wishes for good health, safety, and greater peace of mind for all of us.
