Yesterday, I enjoyed a morning in the great outdoors with the hiking club. This route in the Santa Rita’s was just under 4 miles and was rated moderate with 700 ft. elevation gain on a rocky dirt road. We had 10 people on the hike which is the maximum allowed due to Covid. I have enjoyed the smaller group which gives you more opportunity to get to know people.
I feel so fortunate to be in a community with an organized hiking club. We meet every Thursday morning and usually there are about 10 or more hikes of various difficulties to choose from. Each hike has a leader and a "sweep" who brings up the rear and makes sure everyone is accounted for. The sweep also carries first aid in case of an emergency or injury. With several hundred active members, I usually try to arrive about an hour in advance to make sure I am able to take the hike I want as it is first come first serve and groups are now limited to just 8-10 people (down from 25).
Next week, there are 3 different hikes I'm considering... decisions decisions! lol
This is so cool, Rhonda! I’m so envious lol! Looked like a fun hike and many more to come for you. Isn’t it hard trying to pick just one out of all of the choices we have. Nature is amazing! Loved seeing your pictures. Have fun! 66 days ago
