A Day in the Life of Two Old(er) People...Nov 6: Sunshine and warmth

Friday, November 06, 2020

emoticon I just knew that if I went outside to work in the yard, I'd feel better the other day, and it worked! Sometimes it still comes as a surprise to me that physical activity in the fresh air is good for what ails me!

I raked, picked up leaves, and scratched around in several places where we'll sow some grass seed in the next few days. I still have mulch to spread, too. Got my hair cut, and the other old(er) person who lives here (DH) took some of that FlexSeal stuff that they advertise on TV. Nope...we don't have a boat to fix like they do in the ads, but we have a leaky basement window that sometimes lets water into the basement when it rains hard. So, we'll see if it works on windows as well as it does on boats. Haha. emoticon

We had an even nicer day yesterday with a gorgeously warm and sunshiny day! We drove back to Swedesburg where we lived before moving back to this area a couple years ago. I loved that little village. Swedesburg is tiny--less than a 100 residents, but it's friendly and gives you a real sense of home and belonging. Richard grew up about 2 miles from there, so he's always known a lot of the locals. Swedesburg (yes, it was founded by Swedes) actually has a few businesses and a wonderful museum. I have many friends there now, too, and we met one of them at the churchyard for a short, but fun socially distanced visit. Great day to be outside and see a good friend we hadn't seen since way last winter. We only went down (it's a drive of about 75 minutes each way) because another friend had some venison to give us. Swedesburg will be a story for another day!

Stay safe, stay well, and don't forget to mask up!!

I love sunflowers!! I was in my garden yesterday. I pulled the rest of the tomato plants out and carrots. We had a good crop this year since we put new top soil in. My men hunt so we have venison in our freezer. Nothing like it compared to the meat at the grocery store. I wish I was back in the garden today. The office is crazy busy like normal. Well I do what I can. Hugs, emoticon

Sounds like a perfect Fall day. The sunshine is so good for what ails us. emoticon
I'm happy you and Richard were able to safely socialize. That in itself is like basking in the sun.

Love the talk about small towns. Roger grew up in Cyrus, on the MN/SD border and it is a Norwegian community and he is pure Norwegian. Every one in the community became my friend as well. Much different from the German culture I grew up in.

Your newsy posts are always so calm and peace filled. After reading them, I feel better too, no matter what kind of day it was. It's the feeling you get when you sit with a good friend and have coffee. Anyway...I was happy to see your name in my email notices.

Enjoy this gorgeous weather. I sure hope it doesn't come with a high price tag later on down the pike.

Stay safe. Be well. emoticon emoticon

LOVE the picture with the sunflower saying Jeannie!!

I was feeling HORRIBLE today so I told myself as you did "GO outside and see if it helps." I can't say it made a huge difference, but I still very much so enjoyed it. I'm about to run back outside to run to the grocery store. LOL I accidently erased my work schedule for Sunday!! OOPSIE!!! Plus I need a few things. I work Sat and Sun and afterwards all I want to do is to come home. NOT SHOP.

LOVELY trip you had and it just does the heart GREAT!! SO happy to hear it!! LOVING Your blogs!! TY TY TY you brought SUN SHINE Into our lives

Sounds like a quaint little village. I also grew up 9 miles from a small little town, but about a 1000 more people, but we lived in the country, so I really didn't know many there, as I went to a country school until my Jr. year in high school. So it was pretty foreign to me, when all of a sudden instead of 4 class members there were over 30. Never did get to know most of them, and with only 2 of us going to that school made it a lot harder, so it was a very long 2 year til graduation.
