An October Goal Met
Wednesday, October 21, 2020
Well, I did it. I rode 40 miles yesterday. It was beautiful, and not as hard as I expected it to be. I think that once I'm out there and I find a rhythm, it goes by so quickly and peacefully. I'm sore today, for sure, and am trying a new online pilates class and going for a walk, so I'm not going crazy.
I am aiming for 50 miles in November.
The only scary part is one block from home, I was about 6 inches from being hit by a car. I stopped at the stop sign and then went because it was my turn and right of way. Some guy on his phone blew through the stop sign, and hit my front tire and didn't even stop to see if I was okay, just sped up and went even faster down the road. I was in shock. I can understand mistakes, I can't understand not checking to make sure that the other person is okay or not. I had all of my lights and reflective gear on, so there isn't' much more I can do, other than remain aware. It was my first close call and just sort of re-enforced that I love trail riding so much more than urban riding.
