Friends & Misunderstandings

Sometimes misunderstandings happen when we least expect it. I have a great friend with very different political views. She is a Catholic and I am a Protestant. Yet, we are great friends.
Suddenly, we find ourselves in very different places with hurt feelings.

This is how I hope to mend the broken relationship.
1. Listen — genuinely. ...
2. Avoid having to be “right.” ...
3.Focus on feelings. ...
4. Take a break when conflict escalates. ...
5. See my friend as an ally.
We are starting to talk about the less abrasive areas of our contention first and then approach the main issue. There are a lot of hurt feelings between us, but hopefully, we will find a place of joy again. Hopefully, after the election, we can focus on what unites us.
