In a bit of a fog

Tuesday, October 13, 2020

While at the village today I received a text from a friend to call if I had a half-an-hour. I called and told her I was at the village and if visitors came I would drop her and then call back. We talked for over 2 hours. She is terminal - 3-6 months. This was her 3-year cancer anniversary but doing all the check-up things found it in her lungs (partially collapsed), lymph nodes, kidneys, just basically all over. We talked, we cried, we laughed. She is doing her 'last talk' with people to be certain she touches base with everyone she wants to. She is scheduled for chemo on Thursdays for which I told her I can be her driver if she ever needs it. Her husband is now the only person in a three-person office so he will be in short supply after this week. They are letting her off chemo this week as Thursday is her daughter's wedding.

This year just sucks!

Oh, I'm so sorry. To receive that news from a dear one is crushing. And what a true friend you are, stepping up to help. Not all do, many step back because this is a hard walk. I've lifted this circumstance in prayer.🧡

This has been a very bad year, in our household also. Almost scared to answer the phone, it always seems to bring bad new.

I am sorry. Your friend has come to terms with her time left here and how wonderful for her and you to have the opportunity to share laughs and tears. It is an essential part of the dying process and unfortunately for many it never happens and many die without that reassuring closure. emoticon
