Building a new life in a new place
Wednesday, September 23, 2020
Historically I've moved so many times but never felt like I have a HOME if that makes sense, the place before my last residence I got close, but not so much because it was home, just because it was the first place I picked and lived in on my own. Sadly as a renter I was gutted it was sold and I didn't get to stay longer... but if that hadn't happened then where I am now may not have happened and I have found my HOME.
It is a feeling of peace and rightfulness the minute you get in the driveway
It is people you never have to wear a mask figuratively for, and accept you exactly as you are, good days or bad, crazy obsessions to bad television choices.
It is a town where people are interested in more than just your debit card and want to get to know you, help you, and build on their community to include you
And I have found it all and it is a true blessing.
I met my new partner on February 15th this year for a very first date after meeting online randomly and chatting for a while, then Covid struck and with the world on it's head I guess old me would have taken it as a sign and retreated but this time I took it as an opportunity to take the risk and spent my lockdown with a new family, in a town I'd visited twice only.... and it has been like a romantic comedy of the cheesiest variety since.
So now I officially live in the new town, surrounded by a new family that in less than 6 months have embraced me more than my own in most cases, or than my ex's family did in over a decade.
I've taken up new hobbies such as mosaic, and resurrected my love of gardening
Now to try and lose the weight lockdown and sedentary life added, and to work out how to balance those goals with family life, which I've never had to do before, as my kids were grown and even when married I was still technically marching to my own drum and alone on the journey.
Exciting times ahead as we've just rolled into spring here, hope to keep my Sparkpage and blogs a bit more current going forward after dropping the ball on it for a long time now.
