Lemonade from lemons

Sunday, September 20, 2020

Got my wife home from the hospital yesterday. Dr. wanted to put her in a nursing home. She had a stroke and dementia has set in. With Covid-19 spreading thru nursing facilities I chose to bring her home. The Dr. said I have to stay with her 24/7 so she doesn't burn down the house. The problem I have is taking out the dog, shopping and creating a little me time. VNA will be coming by to make sure my wife is OK and hopefully I can find some volunteers to spell me for shopping and Drs. appointments. I am taking the dog out at 5:30AM before my wife wakes up but that makes for a long day for the pup. I have read about these situations before but never thought it would happen to us. I am open to any and all suggestions on how to deal with this situation.

You sound like an amazing man. Please try and take advantage of any programs and resources to help take care of your wife at home. Doctors and medical facility should help you with this information.

So sorry you are going through this. Not sure about your insurance but some will pay for someone to come a few days a week to help out. Wishing you the best.

You are an amazing husband to bring her home. How very thoughtful of you. To help with the dog walking issue, maybe you could find a student in your neighbourhood who would walk the dog for you mid day. You could always have your groceries delivered to you. Sorry I can't help with the me time. Good Luck! take care of yourself or you will get burned out. emoticon .
