It's Been a Long Break

Monday, September 07, 2020

What a week this past one was. Recovering from back surgery Has been harder than I thought it would be. Sure, I knew there would be pain from the surgery/incision, but I never anticipated the residual nerve pain. This past week it has been BAD. And with it - depression. The Doc says the nerve pain (nerves that have been compressed for a long time - 3 years even since this first started) may last 12-18 months. Ugh. Not sure How I am going to handle that.

Right now I have pain on and off in my hip but the biggest thing is the numbness from my knee to my foot. And the occasional pain in my ankle. It's so weird - I don't know how to describe it it's like my leg doesn't even belong to me.

So the past week I slept until the very last minute before I have to log in to work (instead of waking up to my alarm with my Hubby at 6am), being SO sleepy a couple of hours into the workday that I took my lunch and breaks to nap. SO not me. Also, last week was my first full week back to work, did I say hat already?

Fingers grossed for a better week starting tomorrow!

Wow! That's a huge surgery. Be kind to yourself and understand that you are healing. The body takes a long time to rebound. Take all the naps you need! Prayers for fast nerve healing.
