N is for Now, Finding Balance

Thursday, September 03, 2020

I have changed roles again and I am having a difficult time with this one as I seek God's face in this matter. I choose to find balance, not just my balance but God's balance in my situation. I came back to NC to help a friend to be a full-time caregiver for her and I am finding it difficult to find our (God and me working together) balance. She has dementia and it's a trying time for her I know and it is as well for me to as we strive to live together. There are some wonderful times but when the flair ups come it's not so nice and my best changes but I continue to give my best to her as God told me to come here and help. I know God has a plan for the three of us and I choose to wait on Him, but it's hard and I end up retreating into my room and crying out to God which is a good thing and I will continue to WAIT on GOD!!!!

I spent 2 yrs. taking care of both my parents here in my home. And for 3 yrs. before that before they moved in w/us. Mom had Alzheimer's. She had no filter at all on what she said, and sometimes said hurtful or inappropriate things. It stung, but I always tried to remember it was not HER saying that . . . . it was the disease. The Dad developed a form of dementia associated w/Parkinson's. I was besides myself. But, like you, I know He wanted me to take care of my parents. Some days I was stronger than others. That is part of being human. I will say extra prayers for you. This is a VERY difficult job, to say the least.

    HUGS and love

Oh, dementia is horrid! Know that it is not your friend speaking most of the time. Peace to both of you! I know God is paying attention to you--in His time.

Sending up lots of prayers for you and your friend. While living with anyone has it's ups and downs, it's especially hard if one isn't well. Keep calling out to God whenever as He always provides what we need. I'm thanking Him now for giving you peace. God bless you Nancy Jean.
