Let us Sing! Psalm 33:1-11 August 28 2020.
“Rejoice in the Lord, 0 ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.”
Singing has always played a vital role in worship of God.. Psalms were sung in the temple. Jesus and His disciples sung a hymn after He had instituted the Lord’s Supper. Paul encouraged believers to address one another in psalm s, Hymns, and spiritual songs. (Ephesians 5:19) Why should people sing? We sing because it is an effective way to express our adoration, our supplication, and our testimony. Through song we praise our God and edify one another.
During this epidemic we are told not to sing and to wear face masks. This makes it very difficult to worship God adequately. Yet He knows are hearts and we can express ourselves privately before Him. Do not be discouraged as this too will pass.
The writer of Psalm 33 encourages Israel to sing praises to God for His powerful Word. We can still do this even if we cannot do it corporately. We can thank Him for his unfailing counsels, and His continual concerns for us His people. Even when we feel down we must continue to praise Him.
If you truly love the Lord then enthusiastically praise Him in song. When you are all alone, and your heart is full: sing. Don’t worry about how it sounds. The Lord will be pleased with any melody of praise that comes from your heart.
Charles Spurgeon once said, : When your heart is full of Christ , you will want to sing.” Sing a new song before the Lord. Praise Him all day and every day.
