Functional Medicine

Sunday, August 23, 2020

I have been chasing my weight issues since my thyroid surgery 21 years ago. I have found a functional medicine specialist who used my blood test as proof of my addressing that I’m not over eating but constantly gaining. There’s more to the story but my thyroid levels and free T3 are being adjusted and I’ve started on meds. I don’t have a sugar issue but I have an insulin issue and a leptin resistance issue. It’s too early in the process but the practitioner is confident which is a whole lot nicer than being dismissed. Fatigue has been part of the deal and I’m more than ready to stop the symptoms like someone who is functionally depressed! I’m doing a different form of modified intermittent fasting too. Carbs, protein, fruit and optional veggies, but a big breakfast is encouraged. Veggies, protein and maybe beans for lunch. Dinner is veggies. Hubby’s gotten good at the sautéed veggies and I’ve roasted cauliflower. The leftover cauliflower will be taken for lunch salads. Not feeling deprived!

Omigosh It’s heartwarming to see familiar support and new support. I have been a ghost while my weight has climbed into territory I’ve never been to before. I’ve looked up some information and all seems on point.
