Slow but Steady

For the longest time my weight was around 138 - 141 which is lower than my target of 140 - 143. Not a big difference but one that I was and am comfortable with. Wasn't that hard to maintain with walking and exercise and eating a healthy diet and doing the other things we know add to a healthy life.
A few weeks ago my weight started to creep up a half pound or so every few days I started to pay attention. Looked at my food logs and saw that I was going over my calories more days than not. That "eating back your calories" thing? Doesn't work. I recognize that I really need to stay pretty close to my calorie goal.
With gyms closed I was just walking and with the heat some days that was a pretty slow stroll. Saturday we were able to get back to personal training outdoors. And I've been adding a walk after dinner each night.
The big thing is ditching the wine. Sure it's fun to sit out on the deck with a glass of wine but one often leads to two or even three. In addition to the add'l calories in the wine, usually added a sweet snack. Stopping the wine for now has also gotten me to stop the nighttime snack.
Getting back where I want to be and feel much better. There is so little that I feel I can control right now with the virus and toxic political atmosphere here in the U.S. that getting back in control of my food and exercise is BIG.
Looks like a big storm is brewing here and we do need rain. Even the tropical storm last week brought more wind than rain. Hope we don't lose power. And looks like we might get some cooler temps.
Onward and upward.
