"Engage Your Core" -- You're SO right, MOLLIEMAC!!

Not so long ago, I wrote a blog about how much my morning stretch and balance routine (AFTER my body weight exercises) can improve my outlook for the whole day. Yeah, not just my physical flexibility, my physical balance -- but my emotional and mental and spiritual flexibility and balance too.

But, I must have moaned a little about how some days I achieve balance -- in, for example, the tree pose -- fairly effortlessly. And other days, not so much. Maybe not at all.

MOLLIEMAC -- who also does a stretch and balance routine most days -- spoke right up and told me, "Engage your core!!"

Oh yeah. I've been taking her advice. Engaging my core. It helps so much. And this morning, for example, BOTH my dancer pose and my tree pose were . . . really nice. Really felt good. Calm. Confident. Balanced!!

And as I was balancing away, the thought came to me . . . engaging my core, that's the thing that works best for me period.

Not that I'm claiming to have that perfect "diamond" core that Michael Neill describes and which I riffed about yesterday (sorting my way through all of his mixed metaphors and probably adding a few of my own!!)

But there's some kinda core to me all right.

And when I pay attention to my "core" self -- the self I am now and the self I was right from the beginning, before my personal history and before my beliefs and before my values and accomplishments and ALLLL of that -- that's when I'm taking care of myself. With calm confidence and patience and trust.

Yup, that's when I AM "engaging my core".
