Finding that balance

Thursday, August 06, 2020

Yesterday I didn't eat enough for all the walking and dancing I was doing, and my body let me know quickly. Feel too tired and a little hopeless for no reason and maybe a little bit like a cold is coming on when I've been eating less? Sure signs I need to eat more. But t only occurred to me that that was the problem when I started to get faint and nauseated. So I ate a little, felt a bit better, then I ate some more. I was trying to be moderate but the more I ate the better I felt, so I went just a smidgen beyond moderate. Nothing outrageous but I got plenty full and I felt amazingly better.

Today I'm feeling great and doing well with getting my steps in and I even got some cardio while I was cooking my breakfast. Yay!

Yesterday I mailed a bunch of wedding invitations off and now I've only scheduled a few more wedding-related things for this week. Next week, hopefully, my sister is going to take a look at the venue so we can start planning the decorations. One of the unoccupied rooms in the house is being used to store the wedding things, and they are piling up. If only a few people get to come to the wedding because of covid I'll keep everything until I can throw a belated reception. I'm waiting until the last possible moment to do anything food-related for that very reason. The wedding itself is going to happen anyway, and I plan to have it streaming on Zoom. I've gotten used to having my political meetings online, so why not my wedding?

If I have to choose between losing weight and getting stronger, while staying healthy, I definitely choose the latter, for now. The scale hasn't moved down at all in four days, in spite of all the stepping and moving and being 97% good about about my diet, but every day it seems I can do a little more, and I feel stronger and more capable. Well, ok, yesterday I wasn't doing as well, but I did get steps and cardio in before I felt weak. I'm having a free day soon because of my daughter's birthday, but other than that I plan on eating for health until the next weigh in in a week. I'm hoping to lose at least a pound by then, but even if I stay the weight I am now that won't be so bad, because it's so much less than I was two months ago. On the 16th it will be exactly two months until my wedding, so I have sme time to lose a little more.

I wasn't feeling well enough to visit my mom and sister and their chickens yesterday, but I'm going to make sure I do today. I never thought I would like chickens so much, n spite of the fact that I like birds anyway, but I do like their chickens. I may have to have a few myself, some day, along with my gardens, fragrant herb fields, rose bushes, goats and fruit trees. I mean, why not?
