My view this morning.
We made it through Isais. We had torrential rain. We had high impact wind. Lots of trees and branches down. ONe area even had a tornado taking the roof off of a hospital.
Our power went out around 10 am. It is still out and may be out for days. Our power company is not even making a guess yet when it will be restored.
I am thankful for our generator. though it does not run the entire house, it does run our fridge, freezer, water pump, hot water heater and my sleep machine. If we switch plugs around we can make coffee and use the microwave. It also runs the stove, which runs on propane but has an electric starter.
THe house is beginning to get hot this morning I found a plug that works and have a fan blowing on me. I am thankful for that.
Yesterday my daughter in love spent most of the day here working. They live around the corner so have no power also. SHe is the one who is pregnant.
IN the afternoon my son and their dogs came for several hours. How I have missed those doggies. I used to see them every day, letting them out at lunch time. They were so happy to see me too. I got lots of petting in with them.
It was a wonderful day, even in the midst of the storm.
The biggest impact was the rising of the river. It came up several feet, maybe 8. About every hour, DS and DH had to go out and raise the rope attaching our dock with the pontoon boat, so they did not float away. That water gets pretty strong in its pull as it rises. We saw all sorts of things floating by.
Many neighbors were out adjusting their docks and it was heart warming to see neighbor helping neighbor, while practicing social distancing.
I felt so thankful when I went to bed last night and again when I got up this morning. I may not have power but I have joy.
HAve a wonderful day.
