Forward thinking at the end of healing

Sunday, August 02, 2020

A HOT good afternoon to you, Sparkies! I'm in my aptly named sunroom with all the windows opened, a fan blowing on me and bare feet on a cold tile floor. I'd maybe like to be inside but DH has the TV on loud(swears he does not have a hearing problem), his emergency scanners cranked up and he's watching some kind of military training video on his iPad....it's in FRENCH. No, sadly he does not 'parlez-vou Francais' except for a phrase or two from grammar school. You shoulda seen his interest the day he watched a Croatian military training video. Not a word of English and he was all in. This is also the guy I find watching the Spanish channels on TV and not just the shows with scantily clad women. He's a character, my man. A visual learner is the best way to put it.
I got to remove my heart monitor today, hooray! It'll take a week for the irritation from the glue to disappear. I drop it off tomorrow then visit the cardio next week.
I'm counting down 3 more days to pool entry. I feel so much better from my surgery and am enjoying some new found freedom being able to travel around without panicking for the sight of a restroom! A major test will be my dental visit tomorrow. It's cold in there and it triggered some responses in me when I was there last time. I'm bringing a sweater and not having coffee before I go!
I will start my exercising slowly by only walking. I'm entering the pool to take some pressure off these knees and my toe. I won't return to my in-water routine until my doctor allows it. I miss strength training but have kept up movement of every body part simply by not sitting still!

I hope all of you are finding some way of getting movement. Try to get up every 30 minutes. Stretch. Walk around you house. Bend. Keep moving!

I'm very impressed with DH's viewing skills aka visual learning.. multi-lingually!!
Your pool re-entry should coincide with the passing of Isaias... so hopefully you won't have to spend all your time doing yard clean up. Water should be nice and warm and sparkly! You'll soon be doing your strength training in the pool.. woo hoo! emoticon

What a character! And your DH is, too
Sorry, couldn’t resist. My DH taught me that joke structure a loooong time ago.

My hubby would most likely enjoy the same type of viewing as yours is watching. He also likes anything on How It's Made, anything to do with finding gold/gems/treasures, guns and knives, watching people make moonshine - though he doesn't drink, cheesy old movies with monsters, sci-fi, UFOs, Gunsmoke, and shows that have women with DDs. I try not to hate him but it is nearly impossible when he wants to explain the subtle nuances or moral teachings in Gunsmoke.

I also need skin grafts from wearing things like bandaids.

I hate anything to do with dentists - mostly the bill.

I am not much into sitting - I find it painful.

Well, interesting! My DS watch the military channel, as well. I have no interest in it what-so-ever, but I did note once it was in a different language (don't know what it was -- not spanish) And he didn't speak the language.

Glad you're feeling better. MOST important!

Progress! Sounds like recovery from surgery is a lot like recovery from a HM... "try to get up every 30 minutes. Stretch. Walk around. Bend. Keep moving". Must be a good strategy in general!

Sending good wishes for our cool weather to head in your direction! emoticon
