The Best Neighbors
Friday, July 31, 2020
Just thought a new blog would be a good way to say goodbye to July. A couple of days ago I was happily scrolling through my e-mails and I got a new screen on my computer that stated I had an unrecoverable hard disk error and that my computer would be shutting down unless I could back everything up and prepare to re-install it. WHAT!!!! I am of a certain age that grew up with HB pencils and lined white paper so the world of computers left me scratching my head but being a inquisitive type I was willing to learn (within reason). Back to the unrecoverable hard disk error - What I do have is a wonderful neighbor who loves his computers as much as I love my two sweet fur babies so I find myself calling on him once in awhile but it has never been for something like this that sounded so dire. He has come to realize that when I knock on his door it is usually something bad and I have learned not to say anything but to put on the saddest face that I can manage and he just knows. That's what happened last week, he took a look at my broken computer and did not run screaming from the room. Shut it down he did and then re-booted it while taking off all the computer gunk that I had allowed to accumulate over time. I guess I'm not that good at housekeeping either for my living space or my computer space. I am happy to say that I will not be moving from my present apartment unless I can take my computer neighbor with me and for the time being I will not be losing all my Spark People info which was what I was worried about in the first place. Words of wisdom from this would be delete regularly and keep only what will teach you something. Also remember to say thank you a lot to the people who just know things. These wonderful people are priceless.
